About the Practice

Specialised but collaborative: This is a specialist tax law practice. At the same time we have many links with like-minded practitioners, with different qualifications and areas of expertise, in the UK and around the world. We can involve others as needed to create teams to handle particular jobs.

Experienced and commercially aware: Throughout his career Robert Newey has helped clients (both businesses and individuals) with cross-border tax problems. He also has long experience of working with business clients (large and small) to achieve their commercial aims. He has been a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Taxation since 1996.

Personal service: As a small, focused practice we provide a very personal service: 'who you see is who you get.' You will not find that, once the job is under way, a junior person whom you have not met is doing the work.

Efficiency: Our aim is to provide a cost effective service but with no compromise on the resources that matter.

Up to date working methods: No two jobs that we do are the same. Nevertheless we use technology to help us provide a better service and to make sure that so far as possible time is spent on adding value. For example:

  • The UK tax code is said to be one of the biggest in the world. We use major online information services that make it easier to find a needle in a haystack, as well as keeping our knowhow up to date.
  • Our computer system automatically generates the 'standard' parts of documents (such as names, addresses and references), so we are free to spend more of our time thinking about what really matters. Details of people, organisations and so on are entered once and used in many contexts. This saves time and reduces the risk of mistakes.
  • We use standard computerised routines at the beginning of a matter to help make sure that important steps are not missed at that stage.
